Just an update from LHR: things seem to be running 80 percent normally. A few flights canceled, especially long haul to the US (presumably because of plane positioning) but otherwise good. My flight from IAD was late last night but there were efficient about meeting us at the gate with rebooked boarding cards for later in the day.

BA were very bad about answering the phones, but other than that, the rebooking worked quite well considering the scale of the event. I guess most of it was done electronically.

Local general news is not going to have predictive info like that. There are some here who have shown they know quite a bit about airlines and airports and their systems. A response from one of those folks is likely to me more informative.

Yes. It isn’t the busiest time of the year. Leaving flights will be fine by then.
