There have been a number of antisemitic incidents, but they were condemned in no uncertain terms and disciplinary action promised.

Here is the ADL report card. Not perfect, but surprised they were seen to rise to the level of the "list."

Agree - AU was pretty balanced on free speech but not tolerating antisemitism. I thought they did a great job. I don't think they belong on this list. It makes me feel think, like so many haphazard actions going on right now, that there's some randomness and a lack of thoughtfulness. Just aiming at anyone the trump administration dislikes.

I think it's because they were tied to policies under the former president, who resigned. Not sure what campus climate is like now.
no. other colleges had people resign, even presidents.
this list is typical for this admin: a list was made, was shown around a table and everyone took their favorite school off for no real reason other than alumni status or they like the football team or whatever. totally random and subjective and whatever the fat white guys thought in the moment. the conversations went like this:
"take notre dame off, my son is there."
"done. anyone else?"
"can I add a school? I heard about this one thing on Joe Rogan and it's just a woke bs"
"of course. add, remove, whatever you want"
If that’s the case, how come Ohio State (Vance’s alma mater) is on the list?
Vance wrote in his book that OSU is a liberal hellhole and he took a double courseload to graduate as quickly as possible.

they just want to undermine and control all of our institutions, especially our universities.

Correct.
Northwestern was a mess last year, but they cleaned up their act VERY quickly this summer, including requiring antisemitism training of their students both online prior to coming to campus, and in person the first week back.
Northwestern did it prior to Trump coming to office, when Kamala had that big bump, so what they did to fix the issues was not performative to appease the new administration.
I am also surprised that MIT is not on the list, unless the students there did not lodge formal OCR complaints.

Notre Dame had zero antisemitic incidents.
How many Jewish students attend ND?
In recent years, ND tends to attract right wingers who seem fine with dictators and genocide.
(I say this as someone who once loved ND and almost attended)

The antisemitism thing is just an excuse. Please understand what's really going on - they're trying to take control of universities to indoctrinate students, as is done in authoritarian countries.
Here's JD Vance talking about it last year before he was Trump's running mate

To me, some of the schools listed above surprised me, namely MIT and UCLA as I recall reading about some very intense pro Palestine protests on campus where Jewish students felt unsafe. Did they already clean up their acts?

I wouldn't get caught up in the details of which college did what. This admin doesn't care. This is all a pretext to exert control on colleges which he (and all would-be autocrats) see as a threat. If you kiss Trump's a-- and do what he says and don't challenge him, you'll get off this list. He's just doing this all as a threat and a warning for them to fall in line. I hope the colleges push back and get great legal counsel.
Trump is petty and vindictive and doesn't have integrity. He won the election, but he'll go down in history as the worst American president. In two short months, he's already destroyed our economy and tanked the markets. Our 529s are dropping value just like his grift stock Trump meme coin.
I fully agree but I'm also worried that Trump's heavy-handedness here will create a backlash against Jewish students who attend any of these institutions. Like we'll get blamed for Trump's actions even if we don't support this action of his.

Exactly. Politically motivated plus personal bias and revenge.
Thank you, Joe McCarthy.
