No apparent waitlist movement yet for Tufts this year. Last year, there was a little in April. Anyone hear anything?

I went to Tufts and like the school. The statement above feels like a weird compliment/description of any college or university.
Saying this about a private k-12 school, I get why you would say it though it still sounds judgmental.
But saying this about a college??!! Yuk.

Tufts offers a sweet spot for kids who want more of a LAC experience, but either don't quite have the stats for WASPB or find them too small and rural. BU deserves to be popular in its own right, is also Plan B for some who couldn't get into Michigan (crazy hard this year). Agree with PP that NEU is very much its own thing.

I see plenty of DMV kids committing to Tufts. I noticed one school has 5 commits. BU has definitely risen in popularity in the past few years, seems to have loads of DMV commits this year. I don't see that many NEU, on average about one per school. It's a very particular educational model that is not for everyone.

I liked Tufts a lot but my kid wanted warm weather!

I wish cheering on sports was more of a thing at Tufts but really loved what felt like a joyful nerdiness about it. The course structure also seemed geared toward learning what you wanted to - double majors were common.

I didn’t love it the campus but my kid liked it.

The recent accepted students day sealed the deal for my DD. We both found students incredibly welcoming and the campus really lively even on a rainy day and a rare Engineering program that has slightly more women than men, and great med school outcomes for kids in that track. The area is great too - nice family neighborhood with fun funky spots in Davis and porter squares- and so easy to get to Boston with the new T. I’m over the moon about her starting there in the fall!

Yes, that's what my DD liked. We visited NEU and BU right before Tufts, and although she loves big cities and liked those schools too, she thought the more circumscribed campus feel a little removed from the bustle of the city was great.

Looking forward to visiting Tufts with my junior. Proximity to Boston - without being in Boston - is appealing.

On the top of a windy hill,l and not actually in Boston, looks/feels more like a hodgepodge than a school community, and the students we met were ultra competitive rather than collaborative, which is what was the final nail in the coffin for our kid. But hey, you do you

Pretty nasty post in response to a very lovely recommendation; and it sounds like you didn't spend more than a couple days there.

School is on a weird hillside and looking like Manassa battle field park.

Seems to have lost some appeal. BU and NEU are now more popular.
