So is Carson AAP a completely different school and program than the rest of AAP? Don't your children mix with the normal children in specials? Isn't AAP just 3-4 classes out of 8?

Kids in AAP know who the good kids are and generally don’t associate with the troublemakers. Meaning, your kid will most likely be shielded from some of this stuff.

The police dismissed investigated and dismissed any criminal charges against the boy after it happened 10 years ago. So it appears to be more likely be a consensual sexual relationship (between a 12 year old girl and a 13 year old boy... ugh). She only started bringing the claims and charges up after the boy broke up with her.

Sad your kid is missing out on the amazing clubs and socialization of MS.

DC doesn’t have time, usually there’re lots of school assignments and exams to study for. She sleeps 6-7 hours daily during school days.

No offense but if you child has to work that hard in middle school, maybe advanced academics aren't in their future, push too hard and he/she might just crack at some point down the line.

Maybe a little socialization would do more to set them up for success in life. Don't underestimate the value of soft skills when it comes to success in adulthood.

Agreed, my DC is in AAP at Carson and gets most of her work done during school hours. Sometimes reading or additional homework or projects done at home, but still gets 8 hours of sleep every night.

True for my kid at Carson as well. There are no trouble makers on her “team” or among her friends. She is having a great experience and focused on studying and activities.

AAP at middle school has been an absolutely phenomenal experience for my kid. We truly felt like we were in a bubble.

Another reason for middle school AAP to disappear.

Why? Because kids had positive experiences in AAP? DS has friends in honors classes and has few complaints, except for the TikTok Teacher. I am not sure if she Teaches AAP as well as Honors and Gen ed. The only parent I have heard complain about Teachers at Carson had a kid in the regular classes and I suspect that was because there were kids in the class that were causing disturbances.

DS has enjoyed his AAP classes. His friends are taking Honors and they are doing well. People seem to be happy with the school overall, regardless of what classes they are in.
