Same reason, just the opposite perspective.

I will note that not one atheist I know complains when a theist attempts to defend their position. They relish the chance to discuss it, in fact.

Wonder why that is?

When atheists represent God incorrectly (God gives babies cancer) is when I care.

If I posted that atheists sacrifice babies to Satan you would care, because it’s an obvious and disgusting lie.

Constantly posting that God gives babies cancer and allows them to suffer and dir because He is a cruel bastard is definitely on that level. It’s not true.

Atheist here and I wouldn’t care. Maybe some atheists do? That doesn’t mean all do, and I know that I don’t.

I know who I am and what I believe. Words can’t hurt me, but they can teach me. I keep an open, critical mind. Maybe ask yourself why you feel defensive if someone criticizes your religion or the actions of people who share your religion? Or not. It’s your life.

Critical examination of religion is great.

Repeating that God gives babies cancer is not critical examination of religious beliefs.

Is stating that atheists sacrifice babies to Satan critical examination of atheism?

Do you think that atheists believe Satan exists?

Trying to follow the “logic” here…

Atheists are insisting that God gives babies cancer.

If atheists believe God gives babies cancer, why would they not believe in Satan?

I'm the PP whose mom was told God gave her sister cancer by a Christian. Never once has an atheist told me God was punishing someone in my family who was ill. Meanwhile I very clearly remember Christians blaming natural disasters and plane crashes on sin.

The Bible doesn’t support what you were told; that Christian was Biblically incorrect.

Why did the Christian believe God had given your sister cancer? What was their reasoning?

Why did televangelists say the gays had caused Hurricane Katrina?

You can claim it's bad theology but it's absolutely people who call themselves Christians making these statements and not atheists.

The person who told my mom that her sister had cancer because of sin? Just someone trying to convert people to their brand of Christianity. Came in pretending to be comforting and then busted out the statement that someone must have sinned for my aunt to have gotten cancer.

Ummmm…

Atheists don’t believe that gods give babies cancer.

The point is that if you believe in an omnipotent god then that god does give babies cancer.

This is really the only thing for me. Otherwise, do what you want to do in your home. As long as it's also respectful to those in your home who did not choose your religion (children).

I see the moderation team deleting any posts that are considered proselytizing by Christians on this forum.

Why are atheists and anti-theists allowed to proselytize here but not Christians?

Are facts and science “proselytizing”?

Science and scientists do not try to prove or disprove God or supernatural phenomena as they do not have to tools and knowledge to do so.

Are DCUM posters presenting facts and science “proselytizing”?

What science and facts are you referring to?

The facts and science (and logic) that atheists post.

I’m trying to understand what the PP means by “proselytizing”.

No, it is a strawman, off topic, non-sequitur response to a reasonable, millennia-old philosophical question about the existence of god.

God is an unlimited being. The existence of an unlimited being is either logically necessary or logically impossible.

The existence of an unlimited being is not logically impossible.

Therefore, the existence of God is logically necessary.

Whether or not God exists is a matter of personal belief that cannot be proven scientifically.

If you personally don’t believe in God or gods, hooray. But your personal beliefs are yours alone. You don’t decide for humankind if God or gods do or don’t exist.

The evidence is of the logical impossibility, not scientific. Stay on topic please. Respond to Epicurus' questions.

A god can't give anyone anything if he, she, or it doesn't exist. Atheists are just criticizing the logic of your fiction.

God doesn't exist. God is a concept that was created by humans. Happy to clear that up for you.

The ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BC) believed in gods that were immortal and blessed, but not involved in human affairs. He thought that gods were models of happiness that humans could aspire to.

Epicurus believed in gods.

Can you link to a citation that God doesn’t exist?

From a reputable source.

DP: Epicurus decidedly did NOT believe in the kind of god most Christians believe in.

The problem of evil is the best evidence that the kind of god most Christians believe in is logically impossible.

God is an unlimited being. The existence of an unlimited being is either logically necessary or logically impossible.

The existence of an unlimited being is not logically impossible.

Therefore, the existence of God is logically necessary.

The premises in your syllogism are entirely unsupported. Therefore your syllogism is invalid. That’s how syllogisms work.
