Exactly. DC is a hot mess.

D.C. can't seem to get its sh*t together long enough to elect capable leadership. Biden's secret service detail were carjacked in Georgetown while on duty, for pity's sakes. This is not just bad, it's ridiculous.
Maybe this is not a bad thing. D.C. has had bad leadership for decades.
The federal government is already in charge of "all things crime" in DC. Now that you know that, what is your argument?
That the federal government should start enforcing it. If they do nothing else but stop young boys and men in DC from killing and maiming each other that would be a win. What DC is doing isn't working. In 2023 the murder rate was as high as it's been in almost 30 years.

We used some highly qualified, smart people on the council, like David Catania. But we have no right to expect competence from the modern left. It is why all cities suck. Sometimes you get lucky and the city becomes so poorly run that it goes into BR and for a period of time, competent adults are placed in charge. But them they leave, the crazy self destructive policies return and the city drifts back into lawlessness and suicidal empathy - never-ending cycle. If you would have told me in 2015 DC would be a homeless tent city, at or near all time violent crime rates by 2025, I would have said you are crazy. And yet here we are.
Bring back appointed mayors already!

Maybe. But there would be thousands of new private sector jobs created if DC did not have to pay federal income tax.
