Anyone with personal experience? What are the pros and cons? Is it easy to get back and forth for breaks? I've heard that the dorms kind of suck (i.e. communal showers) - but that its sort of like a "right of passage."
Univ of Florida - Gators is a great school to attend. I did my Masters few years ago. Great campus, quality education, lot of companies coming for campus interviews, was and will be a great football team again (Go Gators), very reasonable OOS tuition, great weather. If you want to work in Florida there may not be that many jobs other than Miami / Ft Lauderdale area but Florida is always great. Also you are not too far from the Trumps

10th in the nation is pretty good actually.

Loves UF, it is competitive but she likes that big spirit school and picked it over VA schools and the price isn’t that different. There are lots of online business classes, but the students usually like those too.
We fly into mco usually bc cheapest, but Jax is closer. Theres more rental cars available there than at gnv too. Best hotels for location and ease are usually ac hotel and there’s one actually on campus. We usually pick a Hilton chain though (home2 or regular Hilton), drury is fine too but not as close to campus. The swamp restaurant is a hangout-ish place. Fun place to also see is depot park and 4th st food park.
Thank you! Exactly the kind of information that I was looking for. I did notice that UF is pretty generous in terms of accepting credits. My son will have about 45 credits going in. Also, what dorms did your daughter like? I also heard that there are many off campus apartments within walking distance.

Are there any shuttle buses from Orlando to UF? My DS will be a freshman there next year. We live in the Upper Midwest and concerned about him getting back and forth from the airport. What do most students do?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Does anyone have information about the nine credit hours of summer classes required? Can these be taken online, or do most students stay a summer to complete them?
The classes can be online. Also, it can be waived with a summer internship.
My daughter had an internship in DC so she never had to take classes in the summer.

I’ve heard about the whole first year online, but is this common otherwise and what about at other flagships? This would really bother me.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:There are like multiple threads on UF. Just search. The out of state tuition is phenomenal for a public ivie. If OP is real, congrats on acceptance!
ivie?
