Much like in many African cultures related to perceptions of cultivating personhood over a life time in relation with community and self discipline, Christians are called to cultivate wisdom, love, and the other fruits of the spirit over as along as possible. Of course there is always grace for those who can’t or don’t choose to but simply saying I believe and not changing behavior is not theologically sound.


"Faith without good works is dead" James 2:17 means simply believing in something without taking action based on that belief is essentially meaningless or inactive. True faith should manifest in positive actions and deeds.

Matthew 7:15-20
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Galatians 5:22-23.
"fruits of the spirit" are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Philippians 4:5-8
Let your moderation be known unto all (wo)men. [sic] The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

The Christian right will just throw back into your face “do not judge lease the be judged” or some other kind of b$ll s$it.

No, he doesn't care. He's trying to appease his voter base - see how he says "people of religion are going to be happy again." If you are happy with your religion you don't need to impose it on others.

If he believes in God, he should behave in a way fitting of that.
