NP. Canadians just booed the US national anthem at hockey & basketball games, but I wouldn’t be worried about actual safety.

We booed it for trump, not Americans

We're not angry at Americans. Mostly we feel bad for you. As long as you're not wearing a MAGA hat, it will be the same as always.

Also we have no interest in becoming your 51st state.

Canadian here - Agree! We feel bad for Americans. Unless you’re walking around with us flag clothing or maga hats, no one will care or notice. Sadly Trump has ruined your flag so when people see it, they assume it’s a trumper.

I just saw a post on FB (Meanwhile in Canada) suggesting people be extra nice to US visitors, you are escaping hell and supporting our economy.

I really don't think you're going to have an issue. Why would MAGAs come to Canada? They don't think we have anything to offer.

Enjoy your travels.

Well I’m a MAGA and I’m planning to visit Canada this summer. I’ll probably keep my opinions to myself though.

Why do that if you stand by your views?

+1
Wear your little red hat, stand by your "values"

Fully agree. You shouldn’t get to hide your evil nature.

Exactly. I work with a bunch of Canadians. They couldn’t be more condescending and sanctimonious about the U.S.

You sound like a pleasant and easy to get along with person. I work in a country with a lot of people from different nationalities, and the Canadians are among the nicest ones.

Most of the rest of the world is appalled and angry at the US right now, so it won't be that much better in other places either.

I travel to Canada for business and pleasure, and I don’t see how anyone can tell the difference between an American and a Canadian.

Car license plates if you drive.

Other signs - Canadians often:

- sport Canadian flags all over their luggage and backpacks when they travel …

- add a friendly “eh” at the end of questions and even plain sentences;

- are quick to say sorry while many Americans seem to regard offering apologies as equivalent to slow painful deaths (but to be fair are also quick to say apologies are not needed);

- usually speak French and even their English has an accent (in Quebec anyway);

- are more liberal in general (universal health care/ no bans on abortion/ marijuana is legal/ GTLBQ+ have powerful rights); and

- are much less likely to identify as religious (except about ice hockey).

To me as a non American and non Canadian it is usually easy to see and hear the difference when I meet them both. I like them both and they both have their quirks, like the rest of us.

I know that's a stereotype but to me it's a total myth! Granted, I mostly know people from Quebec, but they are not polite at all, rude even. Meanwhile I say sorry ALL the time (too much, trying to stop)

You all can forget about that 51st state thing--probably got confused and thought that Greenland was part of Canada.
