I don't have any data on it, but I can imagine much of the economy of the DMV depends on the federal government directly through federal employment, indirectly through federal contracts, and indirectly through all of the services that those employed by the federal government or contractors consume. I suspect the federal government is a major source of household wealth in this area. The federal government is also a more diverse workforce than the private sector. My household has for 20 years depended on the federal government as our sole source of income, as my spouse and I have worked both directly for the federal government or as contractors. Three quarters of the people on my block in a suburb far outside the beltway are either are feds or contractors. We are all viewed as part of the problem by most of America. Our local reps in congress care, but they can't do anything.

Trump is literally following Project 2025 to the letter and I can’t see anything more extreme or fringe than that.
Yes, it's weird the democrats are blamed for Republican actions.

You are mistaken; she lost.

Oh well….we deserve what we get…..
Not those of us that didn’t vote this
If we pick a better candidate and stop running on our craziest of the left wing agenda maybe we can win an election next time. We need to come back towards the middle.
Agree 100%.
Blame the Dems for running an idiot.

This is a really good question and nobody knows yet. Almost all scientific research in this country is directly funded by or intertwined with federal funding. Medical schools and academic medical centers subsist on federal funds. The list goes on.
Yep. It's shocking because anyone can tell you that STEM infrastructure development is a national security issue. The US Military funds STEM education programs because having domestic production of everything from chips to steel to polymers is a key part of military readiness.
Why is it only chips and steel and polymers? I thought the US military has a small pox vax? Sure I know vaccines are garbage......but everyone will need that garbage vax if smallpox ever gets loose again. Don't we need robust medical research as well?
Those were just examples. The US military also invested heavily in medicine and so many doctors my Dad's age had their med school paid for by the US military.
The military understands that a dumbed down society makes us vulnerable.
True but since we voted for vulnerability and seem to be headed that way....how do we advise our students?
