My name absolutely dates me-no one has my name anymore. I like it though.

The nicest, kindest woman I know is named Karen so to me it’s a lovely name.

Being insecure about your name is a waste of energy.

Also has nothing to do with general parenting.

OP- I am in my 50s so I guess being assumed to be 40 something is a positive.

I’m 55 and I knew you were, too!

54 yr old Jennifer here…

Same.

There were 3 of us in every class.

Jamie. As a child I hated that it was androgynous. As an adult, I still dislike that but also think it just sounds like a 70’s/80’s name.

Every Nikki I've ever known has been awesomely cool, including the one named Veronica who went by Nikki.

Allison; it’s fine. Could be worse, I suppose

Sarah. Always hated it. It’s so bland and it didn’t help that I was in speech therapy for R sounds through elementary school. I always longed for a nickname.

My DD has a very late 80s/early 90s name with endless nickname possibilities and it was basically chosen to make heal 4th grade me.

Rebecca here 53 and I love my name…now. I kind of wish that my parents had spelled my name Rebekah because I am old-fashioned and traditional and prefer the biblical spelling.

Funny that I married into a Swiss-German surname and I often assumed to be Jewish.

I am 4th generation Rebecca and never nicknamed. Also forgot to give my only DD my name so guess it ends with me.

Helen, born early 60s. I didn't like it much when I was young but grew to like it once I hit my 20s. It's as classic as classic can be and the only other Helens were always much older than me. I wonder if it's starting to become fashionable again since 3 TV shows I watched recently had someone named Helen, and it was the cool person or lead, not the dowdy friend or great aunt.

I'm a Jennifer too. Hated it growing up. We had 5 in a class one year. Now I'm more neutral, when I meet other Jennifers I know we're the same age range.

Bridget here. I've always loved it. It's common enough in the US that no one blinks twice but uncommon enough that I tend to be the only Bridget in someone's life.

My grandparents called me Bridie which I also loved but only from them.

I have a name I like a lot, but it was only used for a nanosecond at a certain time, so instantly dates me. I don't love that.

Kristin?
All of us Kristins are dated and there didn't seem to be too many after us. Maybe it will pick up again in another 10-20 years.

I’m thinking Linda
