This, I change. I'm not a leggings person but I usually wear some sort of joggers and an oversized free people type sweatshirt and then change in the bathroom or lounge (if I have lounge access) to jeans.

She's a famous writer married to another famous (and extremely rich) writer. They spend their time bouncing between their multiple city and country homes in the US and Europe and writing about travel and style.

I agree this outfit is comfy (I have pretty much the exact same one and have worn it many times) but it’s quite dated/mid-2000s, which is why I’ve stopped wearing it. I know it’s just the airplane, but OP seems to be looking for something somewhat fashionable and this is not fashionable.

OP, if you want to essentially wear pajamas on the plane (as opposed to a real outfit), I’d go with a matching set over this.


I live out west and I read this forum with incredulity sometimes. This shoe is so ugly and dated. Please - don’t wear these stuffy dated things to Paris, OP.



The whole outfit feels very somber, too. Kind of like what you pull out of storage at the back of your closet when you have to go to a funeral at the last minute and don't have time to shop.

Not the PP, but yes. I didn’t wear them on one flight, and ended up with swollen feet. I didn’t think they were swollen —they didn’t look visibly swollen — but all my carefully chosen shoes and boots ended up doing a number on my feet. They were just tight enough to cause blisters and other problems for the first three days of a trip with heavy walking. I only figured it out after a subsequent trip.

I do this too. Dress with sweater or jacket. When on the plan, put on leggings and an extra layer on top, if necessary. Looks good.

I find it hot on airplanes. I fly to Europe A LOT for work. My overnight clothes are: compression knew high socks (i have bombas), loose comfy pants (Athleta and others), a t-shirt and either a “jardigan,” nice hoodie or blazer (that I don’t sleep in). In the summer, I don’t wear the compression socks and I find I really miss them, they are a superpower for energy.

Super helpful thread. Great outfit ideas but I realized none are practical for me, I itch when I get tired. Even the previous planned leggings would be a problem. Just ordered super soft Lulu sweatpants and top. Nothing like I would usually wear. Hoping to sleep on flight.
