Please substantiate this claim.

Seriously? Schools hide this stuff since the SCOTUS devision. We all know it's true but can't substantiate. Didn't you get the letter from your college pledging ongoing commitment to diversity after SCOTUS? I got it from both my SLAC and law school, which. both have continued to play the URM and race game - it's just now in the essay, not in a box

Correct - nearly every top 30 school has publicly stated that they will continue to prioritize diversity. So how can anyone pretend they aren’t? It’s just silly.

Colleges are increasing the number of Questbridge admits, using rural applicant initiatives and FGLI outreach to increase URM. Sure, some of the FGLI, Questbridge and rural applicants are white or asian, but most are URM.

Stop with the lies. My OOS, Caucasian DC with no hooks but high stats, leadership positions and strong ECs was accepted to the honors college.

Same here.

Anyone with a kid that is currently at UNC or recent grad - would be interested in your experience. DS interested in business or communications there.

Well that’s you. I picked it over an Ivy and MIT. Zero regrets. I was and still am very happy with that decision. To each their own

You’re right, to each their own, glad you have zero regrets. When you live close you tend to undervalue things and want something different.

It’s harder when you’ve sat in class with some goofballs for years to think about ending up at same spot. Of course not all or even majority, but does change impressions. Yours is just as valid and glad it was a great choice!

First choice, fell in love with it but also accepted to HYP which was a surprise. Will have to revisit both.

Picking UNC over HYP was a dumb decision by a stubborn teenager that has impacted the rest of my life.

I hope your kid will make a better decision than I did.

+1 I had a T10 classmate who made the same decision, regretted it, then transferred UNC to the T10. It was a very different education comparison. The PP needs to pick HYP, or any T10, over UNC

Again this was a zillion years ago. There are employers who will not hire from the ivys anymore, particularly HYP. And there are kids who will not attend HYP for principled reasons.

But there are 500 more spots this year than last. So roughly an 11% increase in total spots and a 15% increase in total apps.

The OOS cap has not been increased.
