Because we already answered that question in our original PPs. We said, basically, that we hope they make good choices and currently seem to be doing so (since they did not grow up addicted to screens and have other interests).

I worry about this. Have 2 DDs. One is 10 and is pretty good at having balance with screen and other activities. If I tell her to turn it off, she does with no/minimal problems. I don't think social media will be an issue when she gets it

My 13 yo is completely different. Huge fights/meltdowns related to screentime. When she sneaks and gets access when she shouldn't, she's been up really late or all night. I don't think she's capable of self-regulation right now.

I'm hoping it will change as she gets older. Otherwise I worry about her life.

Side note, I talked to many parents, and a lot of them don't have any real time restrictions, so the kids are on for 8-12 hours a day.

Again, I will repeat it for you. We are not worried solely about social media as compared to other problems 18 year olds have in society. We impose restrictions on our high school teens because we do not want them to waste hours and hours and hours of their days, staring passively at a little screen.

How do kids have Snapchat without the parents knowing?
I have a tween not a teen but she put Snapchat on her phone and as soon as I saw it I made her delete it. I told her why.
She has Instagram but only watched soccer videos and food videos for the most part.
Occasionally texts with friends but not often.
No other SM.
I assume over the next 6 years I will continue to guide her decisions and keep encouraging her to make good choices. We talk about what can happen online once info is out there. How predators operate etc.
I assume by 18 she’ll be more sensible than she is now at 12.
