Do NY residents get any admissions advantage at the contract colleges (state funded)? Is the ratio of NY residents to OOS the same for the contract colleges and the non- contract colleges like Arts & Sciences, Engineering, etc. ?


That is worth investigating if you are in NY. A&S and Engineering are very tough to get into.

you must really hate Oxford

There’s rightful reasons to not love Oxford’s campus. Have you ever actually been inside or have you just idealized walking around the area? There’s a lot of dilapidated facilities and living in British accommodations might not be everyone’s favorite thing.

Yale has some very beautiful looking buildings, but the campus overall is ugly.

I think Stanford and Caltech are pretty campuses, with Stanford being huge and Caltech tiny. Different than East Coast ivy architecture, but nonetheless beautiful.

We visited the gorges, which are lovely. Was simply responding to someone who said Cornell was ugly. If you approach campus the way we did, it’s an unattractive start. My point is the main campus area is very nice, and heading into town.

It looks better than Harvey Mudd. Of course Harvey Mudd is connected to the rest of the Claremont campuses that some beautiful areas.

Harvey Mudd is just unique in its own way. I don’t think it wants to be pretty .

Caltech looks like a mix of the Claremont colleges. Pomona and Occidental and Caltech all have pretty similar vibes


We toured it for DC, and I really loved the way it looks. Very cool.

It leaked the day it was built/inaugurated, it has no corners inside (or very few). But it is undeniably cool looking!
