This. Someone explain.

Good idea, but are Italians, Irish, and Jews allowed in the white affinity group? It's hard to keep track these days.

There are other school groups already. But they're privately funded and targeted at the school level. Because that's the way you do this if you don't want national publicity and potential legal liability being caused by decisions made by elementary school teachers.

The far right hysteria group’s claim will go nowhere and instead the ABC News story will hopefully inspire other schools to evaluate the need for potentially including a similar after school group at their own campus. Win win.

I wouldn’t care about this as long as they say they welcome anyone. That’s good enough. I instantly would know that any club called “empowerment” wasn’t geared toward my white kid. Better for kids to be spending their after school time in a structured environment.

The federal funding is just for the schools, not the club specifically.

Opposing groups as such doesn’t inherently make you “a white supremacist”, but it does make you a pretty crappy member of the school community. Looks like Hearst has similar demographics to our school, so kudos to those teachers for seeing the needs and creating a solution.

Nope. Racist fight against groups like this and try and convince others that that opposition is ok. Not racists sit quietly on the sidelines. Anti-racists actively support these groups and call out racist behavior when those with white privilege cannot see it.

This is a weird form of cosplay. We live in one of the most liberal areas of the country but, somehow, you think you're in daily combat with the KKK.
