After listening to the arguments, I think they are probably going to kick it down the road to see if the new administration can deal with Congress. I'm not sure what that deal will end up looking like and ultimately it may end up being banned which I wouldn't be too sad about

Time for those people to get real jobs like real estate agents.

My concern about tiktok is the format of a charismatic person speaking directly to the camera. Directly to me. It taps into my emotional brain. Even though I know I don't have any relationship with the person, it still feeds my emotional brain. I don't want to get any emotional fulfillment that way.

Me too except I hope that eventually the reality of what people see vs. what is being fed to them will start to make a difference. This time that feeling broke in the Republican direction---lots of independents and swing voters didn't buy the progressive party line on crime, transgender issues, etc. But people will realize that mass deportations are not, in fact, going to happen. And that R tax breaks will only inure to the benefit of billionaires. And they will certainly notice if any of the popular Obamacare protections such as no denial for pre-existing conditions and permitting adult kids to stay on policies until age 26 are repealed. And if tariffs ARE imposed (doubtful) people will certainly notice when the price of everything at Walmart increases by 20%. My middle class retiree mom was a Trump voter until the minute the 2017 tax act increased her taxes while the taxes for billionaires were lowered.

I think ByteDance does a strategic retreat and doesn't sell. Otherwise that means they have to hand over the user base, algorithms, and data to an American owner. Not gonna happen, imho - I don't think China will allow it. They already make gobs of money.
