California holds taxes and it really hinders the market. No one feels like they can move if they know their taxes will skyrocket to market rate. It’s like rent control. Versus here, you know the taxes will still reflect the value regardless of where you live.

But then the OP posted a press release that doesn't use the word "rate" because it is only about property values having gone up. OP, did you actually read before posting? Yes, the Census counts people who live in Maryland, who make up the population of Maryland, which is increasing.

This thread is about taxes. Illegals aren’t paying property taxes. They do increase the need for tax money though (they’re very expensive to educate in the school system, they result in more people on the roads and using parks etc) which is why people leave the state. More people using resources but they aren’t paying for them equals increased taxes for the Americans who do pay them.
