He is suspended from our after school program and we’re scrambling for coverage.
No, we cannot afford a nanny and we don’t qualify for assistance.
Thank you!

It’s not teen specific. It’s when kids with special needs run away from teachers, caregivers, parents, etc. they just take off. It happens at all ages.
When you see a story in the news about an autistic 7 year old found alone on a busy road or drowned in a pond, it’s because they eloped. It’s a panic response and combined with low impulse control it gets them into risky/bad situations. It’s not just “I left the room.” It’s usually them fleeing what they perceive as a stressful environment in a heightened emotional state. Not great. Certainly not for a regular day camp that’s just keeping kids alive.

Daycare? Like aftercare? A 13 yo should be okay being home alone if they don’t have special needs.

Yes he is. I am asking for care options though not input on how to care for my child.
I have a feeling you wouldn’t do this to a mother in your income bracket and I don’t appreciate it.

If he stayed with anyone in our family he’d come back addicted to meth.

99.9% of college kids do not want this job. You’re lucky if they’re out of bed by noon. It’s their break they don’t want to babysit.
