To add, any camp that has 13 year-olds is going to assume the kids are more-or-less staying on campus. Heck, my kid was a "CIT" at 14 helping to corral the elementary schoolers. This is not to make OP feel bad, but to set appropriate expectations that a kid who still elopes as a teenager will not get the supervision he needs at a Y or HoopEd camp.

Not PP who asked, but on DCUM everyone is excoriated regardless of their income. Any time ADHD is suspected and meds are not mentioned in the first post, we're going to tell you to consider meds. Don't confuse tough love with condescension. I'm a rich person with a severely ADHD kid, and medication changed his life.

I'm sorry for the stress you're going through. Hopefully you'll find something.

Sounds like he could benefit from an Outward Bound camp this summer.

I have an immature son and I totally get that this is really tough as my guy aged out of "traditional" camps and afterschool programs.

The only thing I have found are sports programs like ProFit, hiring college aged students to supervise his homework time / pick him up / drive him, and taking leave to keep an eye on him. I suspect it might also work to look at some of the educational skills--cooking school programs, outdoor survival skill programs--but I have not done this.

OP, post this again in the Special Needs forum. Ask for "winter break camps for 13 y/o" instead of "daycare". Of course there are kids with ADHD who struggle in one camp environment who do fine in others. I am not local otherwise I would give you some ideas.

The thing you might come up against at this point is everywhere being filled up, but you won't know until you try. Good luck.

You are delusional OP. You can’t just drop hour eloping 13 year off at a standard winter break camp for other 13 year olds and think that will be adequate supervision. They are not watching these kids like hawks.

Not all college kids are lazy and spoiled. Mine wants a job but most places won't hire someone for just a few weeks.

DC-Ice has day camp during the break that covers that age, but it's a drive from TPk.
