He had fun with Super Y - he played for Arlington, which was different club than his usual club, and it helped keep him active and engaged with the game during the summer. Coaches are understanding of the summer vacation schedules many players have -- they overload the roster a bit to ensure that on any given weekend they have enough kids to play.

If you have a kid who loves soccer and you want to keep him active during the summer and give him more touches and time to develop, I'd say Super Y is a great option. In particular, for kids under 12 who have boundless energy and haven't hit the age where overuse becomes a real thing.

Overuse is my biggest concern.

At what age did your kid play super Y?

My kid did Super Y U11, U12, and U13. Our club only cancelled practice once or twice over these three seasons, so we never had issues with cancellations. That seems to be isolated to clubs that are using certain fields I guess. That was not my experience. And it's summer, so of course it's hot. I don't know when it became bad to let kids be outside during the summer. Practices are late in the day, so it truly isn't that bad. It's no different than playing in August at the beginning of fall season, so not sure why it would be a concern. Anyway, we had no concerns with overuse because it's only two practices per week and maybe a game or two. And it's only 6-8 weeks. You come and go as you please - summer vacations and all. So it truly isn't nonstop soccer unless you want it to be.
I like the low stress environment and it's fun for the kids. And avoids having to kind random soccer activities for them. But unlikely to do it past U14 for the reasons other PP have already stated.

Super Y was not a good experience last year. Of all the practices and games I think our daughter went to 5 maybe six sessions because of cancellations and standard vacations. Parents were angry there was no make ups for cancellations.
