My kid has done All County (Junior Honors Band) for several years now and really enjoys it. It's pretty amazing to play with these other students and the ensemble sounds amazing. She does not play to major in music ever, but she has had a really good experience playing with the MCPS organization. The conductor last year was wonderful and it's definitely worth it if your kids likes to play his/her instrument.

Oh, that is just SO obnoxious.

My kid is not good enough for All State, but is friends with some of these students who got into All State. The kids are genuinely talented students who enjoy playing their instruments.

You don't just simply get THAT good at the violin because you want to get into an Ivy.

Junior All-State is not that hard to get into. The Senior All-State Orchestra is incredibly competitive.

Why would it be, junior has 7-9th graders and senior has 10-12th graders? Both have same number of seats. It doesn’t make much sense.

The response doesn't make sense.

I think some of the kids who started later are catching up with kids playing very advanced programs at an early age. So some kids who were well ahead and made junior are no more ahead and are not making senior. It makes it harder for them, but easier to those now getting in.
