It does not suck worse than being stuck in traffic and missing your flight.

Again, the passenger draw for DCA extends a lot further than people who live near a Metro. I don’t know how this can be made any clearer. I’m not going to drive 20 minutes to park at a metro station to then have a 40+ minute metro ride with a line change to DCA.

I’m the poster you’re responding to. I live in DC and work in Alexandria. Dropping him at National was literally on my way to work. We got a few extra minutes together, and the drop-off was relatively easy at 7:20am.

Agreed but the majority of passengers are not 85+.

Love metro to DCA. Dulles is so easy to drive to because of the toll road.

Yeah, that walk from the Metro to the /A/ Terminal (aka, Terminal 1) is not fast with a carry on and a full size suitcase. I guess it's not unpleasant though

Notwithstanding holiday travel, DCA is the best. So close to the city, easy metro. But best of all, easy and quick in and out.

I hate Dulles and their stupid transporter.

I was at DCA several times in the past 10 days. And I am there several times every month. The bulk of the issues are caused by those directing traffic. I don't know if they are DCA employees or police officers or what. They regularly block the road with their vehicles, they set cones up that take up 1/4 mile of lanes without any reason to do so, which forces all of the other cars into using 1 - maybe 2 lanes. It's truly unbelievable. Several months ago when they were focused on Terminal A/1, Terminal B/2 was SO smooth and easy b/c those picking up/dropping off just acted like normal drivers and we had the use of all lanes. I go to a lot of airports on a pretty regular basis and DCA is by far the worst with traffic management. It's one of my favorite airports in all other aspects, but not that one.

Yeah, I'm not taking a 30+ min metro ride when I can drive the 4 miles from my house and be there in 10-15 minutes. Even on a busy holiday weekend I'm not taking the metro.
