YES. We stayed at a kinderhotel in Austria and it was amazing. It was our first family trip in a long time that actually felt like a vacation. Granted we were coming from elsewhere in Europe so didn't have to deal with long flight/jetlag.

+1. In France now and it is such a pleasant experience. Also everything is significantly cheaper - paid $950 for 20 hours of private ski lessons. My lift ticket today cost $45. Lunch (a panini and a coffee) was $9. Hotel in a very cute French village with a shuttle to the slopes directly outside is $200/night.

I witnessed at Deer Valley this weekend some idiot ski fast through the lift line to meet up with a friend who was already in line (before their group) and take out another woman in line; she was complaining about her knee, which looked twisted and bad. Bad, idiotic, selfish skiers in the US, too. Why do people join the lift line before they have their entire group? Or think it's acceptable not to come to a complete top before joining the lifted line? Or think it's okay to cut people in the lift line to join a group?

Seems everyone is talking about the US (or Canada), but our best ski trips have always been to Europe. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France. You can't beat the atmosphere and the restaurants, etc.

Then only thing I like better about skiing in the US is the behaviour of the crowds in lift lines.

Breckenridge has terrain for everyone. It's seriously the best. I like getting a condo, so we can have control over meals instead of having to walk into town - although that's fine to get dinner in town too. We stay at Beaver Run, which is a 5 min walk to a 2 min shuttle ride to town. Ski school is directly out the door and a lift that services blue is next to ski school.

Sun Valley Lodge, but its partially because my kids love to ice skate and the outdoor rink at the lodge (visible from the bar) is iconic. Probably the most famous outdoor rink in us. Skiing great, too. Fairmont Chateux Lake Louise in Canada is also great for similar reasons.

My daughter is 5 year's old. She always enjoys our trips to the mountains, but she had more fun this year than any previous years. Whether that is because things start to click for her on the skis this year or it was the destination, I can't say. Her favorite mountain has been Snowmass. The ski school was awesome. She loved her instructors and progressed so much. Free smores after the lifts close, play areas all around the base area and so many other families there. I never thought Snowmass would be a great family mountain, but it definitely was.

We’ e driven from DC to Vermont for years. I love Stowe(Epic) and we also go to Okemo. Out wesr we enjoyed Breck and Park City

Locally Timberline. New England - Sunday River. Scenery - Europe. Challenge - Snowbird, Alta, Mammoth. Luxury- Beaver Creek

This is so specific to the skiing ability and conditions. We had an amazing trip to Mammoth in Cali because we are strong skiers and there was a ton of snow. Others might have hated it.
Steamboat was amazing even though conditions weren’t great. Easy logistics flying into Steamboat and using shuttles in Steamboat to get to mt.
We’ve had amazing trips to Utah - cottonwood canyons resorts.
It really is dependent on you.
