It's a backup child are benefit. Under the terms, you may be expected to have childcare to begin with, and it's for when that falls thru due to closure, illness, etc. Not that you're too cheap to pay for FT care and you're piecing together various backup days.

I don’t think it’s misusing. They have the benefits so use it. If the daycare had a problem with it then they will let them know. A reason could simply be you don’t have childcare coverage because your spouse needs a break, medical leave etc. They make the deal with care.com and pay an annual fee for this benefits to be given to employees. It’s a way to make the company family friendly.

How could it be a no no? It’s all done through care.com and the daycare said it was fine. Sounds like a win win. We spend way too much time at work. I wouldn’t feel guilty about using a benefit I pay for. Op also said there is a co pay they pay to use it.

You're confused because that's not what this backup childcare benefit is for. OP is misusing it and DH may not want to participate in that (I would not do that with an employer benefit).

And yes I have a backup child are benefit and a kid I daycare so I do understand what it is and what it's for.

Team OP. I had a DH who "hid" in his office way too much. Luckily our kids are grown but it was infuriating to have to do everything because he was pretending to work.

OP also figured out a solution. Yay her! She just needs bozo to step up and make some calls.

Put something on his calendar for him to call HR during work hours. Just send an outlook to his work email and it blocks the time.

Also stop doing anything extra. I agree with that.
