Subject: SAT -does score really matter once it's >1500?
1530/790 math is good. It's always better to have a higher score but how would you study to do that? And is it worth the time?

No reason to disparage URMs. A 780 isn't a 500 or anything. Anyone who achieves that score in math can do the work at MIT.
Agree no need. But also no reason to think race is no longer a factor in college admission.
If it is, good. Especially if a school can get a bunch of URMs with scores like that.

A million ways to discern race other than a box. My counselor said that's the entire reason that UVA added the new essay about community identity.
Not agreeing or disagreeing but gotta live in the real world and plan accordingly.

99th percentile is meaningless in this context. 800 math is hardly rare and MIT probably gets way more perfect math score applicants than spots available every year.

That depends on your score and the school. You apply TO if your score is not good enough for the school.
If you are suggesting people just skip testing and apply TO because it's "optional," no, that's not typically done unless the student is absolutely sure that their score will be low according to official practice tests.
