Well here is the answer. Grandpa gave her the phone, pays for the phone, and now he wants to take the phone. So give the phone to Grandpa. Duh.

And also thank you for posting this, OP. Sincerely. It prompted me to have a check-in with my 15 and 17 year old DDs just to reiterate expectations and confirm that they only communicate online with people they already know directly and in person from school or other activities. No friends of friends and certainly no random follows. Instagrams are both set to private and they are cautious about confirming followers and choosy about following. They don’t have TikTok or Snapchat (at first because we said no and now because they have seen that negatives outweigh any benefits and they just don’t want it).

It’s a scary world out there.

The fact that kids might sneak and still do things behind our back doesn’t mean we just throw our hands up and refuse to address the problems right out in the open in front of us. Be a real parent.

+1 My 10 year old DS just got pissed at me because I wouldn't allow him to get direct messages from his friend at school on Roblox. Oh well. I told him very honestly that if I did what he asked, he would have no control over pervs and bullies contacting him. You make the smart parenting choice and let them rage. Then give them a choice. You either have the phone on my terms, or you have nothing. They will choose to have the phone on your terms. Why is this so hard?
