Every player from Orange has had and will have opportunities.

Families have to weigh what is most important and everyone has a different situation. Just because you have an offer to a D1 school doesn't mean its the right fit for your daughter. Some girls can get into better schools (or schools they like better) without lacrosse. Some schools only have club lacrosse and you can't tryout for that until you are a student. If they end up at a school just for lax they better love the school because things can happen - injury, coaching change etc.

There is also quite a bit of work that the girls have to do on the back-end such as mailing coaches, attending prospect camps, etc.

Although I understand some of your point I can tell you from experience that coaches are definitely watching at tournaments. The question becomes why are they watching? Is it because of the Capital brand? Is it because Orange is in a better bracket than Pride? I’m not sure but coaches are definitely watching and offering.

To those that think the uncommitted girls are lying about having offers from D1 schools. They are most definitely telling the truth. Keep in mind that every family journey is different. What works for you does not work for her.

My daughter’s future coach said she watched her play all summer long at the tournaments, as well as the school-specific prospect camp my daughter attended (which my daughter attended only after she learned she was in their top tier).

Indeed, every player’s recruiting path is different. Club tournaments are exceptionally important, and going to the school-specific prospect camps are also very important (in my daughter’s experience). Having tough conversations with the recruiting director and club coaches to have an understanding of player lax level is also extremely important.

The level of play may be similar, but capital has a lot more girls going to top private schools, which can make a big big difference, especially for patriot league or high-level D3 schools

Can someone explain the bolded? Is there a feeling that D1 spots will become available with people decommitting? I would have thought the opposite with roster caps. What is the theory here?


It’s more than a theory. This is the first year that most schools are requiring SAT scores and most committed 26s have offers contingent on hitting a certain score. If girls can’t get the score, then they will effectively have to decommit because their offer will be pulled.

In fairness, this is probably only impacting 20 to 25 women’s lax programs, but it’s still very real

Pride is terrible at recruiting. They provide no help or support. Just look at the results. Cap Orange and Pride would play a competitive game on the field but the difference in recruiting results is dramatic. The players are similar. The program and the directors helping them is the difference
