My husband is a fed. He was transferred to a field office out west but we will be moving back to the DC area in a few years.

adults must sign in in the main office.
● Please be aware of classroom allergens. No nuts allowed.
Students who do not celebrate:
● Students who do not celebrate Halloween will be offered a separate activity during the
parties and parade.


This is great and glad they do this. And it takes into account other students needs so they also have an activity.

On Halloween kids can come in Halloween colors. Nov 1rst youngest kids come dressed as a Saint and they have a parade.

DP but this is totally reasonable for a private school people are self-selecting to attend. Just don't take it away from everyone in public school and other schools!


Original poster of that post and trust me I won't and neither will the very nice people at our school on any side of the Halloween debate.

We were in public last year and I was surprised my kids were cool with not dressing up this year. Turns out they didn't like our public's insistence that it was Book Character Day and were thrilled to pick whatever costume they felt like .


Public schools in my area don't allow costumes, private religious schools do. So strange.

It's a holiday with a history of controversy in Christianity. To me that's wrong-headed, because ultimately Halloween (All Hallow's Evening, the night before All Saint's Day -> Hallow E'en) comes from Christianity, but the school (correctly in my opinion) just wants to stay out of it.


I'm a Christian and this is stupid. It's a Christian holiday. The only place it might be controversial is in fundie circles, and I wouldn't trust those people to be educating my children to begin with.

and class parties are only in lower school.
