Gold, man. I have new respect for Ariana Grande. Although, man, she needs to eat a sandwich.

My best friends house was okay — well done and I guess an edgy concept but just not all that funny at the end of the day. I rethought the espresso one was stupid and a missed opportunity. Just not funny and the intentionally bad singing made it painful. Sad because I’m some of their funniest skits are songs — Backhome Ballers; Loco; Boomers Got the Vax; and of course D-ck kn a box.

They always cracked me up.
They were so darn cute and hysterical.

Their only feature film tanked at the box office so maybe Lorne wrote them off.
Guess he thought that their humor only worked for short skits only.

Seems these days cast members do not have long shelf lives.

What happened to Pete Davidson?
Haven’t heard anything about him over the past year.
Last I heard he went to rehab.

I miss Punky too.

Oh I liked Punky! I just realized she isn’t on cast anymore — she was one of the best of the new ones. Why keep Desnukes and get rid of her? I also loved the Do Not Disturb guys and how they are coming back.
The Latino guy is the best of the newer cast members. The skit last year with Bad Bunny about the explorers returning from the new world was one of the best skits they’ve had in a long time. I feel like he brings a fresh voice and quirky sense of humor. And his comedic timing and delivery is incredible.

Didn't even know that show was still around. I remember it in the 1980s, was funny then, but by the mid 1990s it went to crap. Thought it finished up around early 2000s.

Mmmmm. Sure. We totally believe you.

If you were watching in the 80s you are my mom. Who is a grandmother.

I’m 52 and watched in the 80s when I used to babysit (my parents wouldn’t let me watch it!). But the idea that anyone who doesn’t live in a yurt in the desert would be unaware that SNL has been on air for the past 20 years is …. not believable. If nothing else, it was huge in the 2016 election. Kate McKinnon was one of their best players ever.

Last week was really funny. Last night was pretty bad. Even the cold open was a little flat. I'm already tired of Dana Carvey's one note Biden.

"And by the way" isn't amusing enough to use 3 times in 2 weeks.

Better to play him as quietly staring, that's less disruptive to the sketch

+1. I listen to his podcast with David Spade and he's terrible -- he's down to about 8 jokes/impressions total that he just does over and over. Lorne loves Dana, but it's time for Dana to hang it up. He has no new ideas.

+1. Even in his heyday, I always thought he wore thin fast. Mike Meyers was a good offset to him.

“Let’s move over to President Trump’s lovely wife, Melania,” indicating an empty space at the contestants’ table. After a pause, he added, “Oh, she ain’t here.”

“It’s so strange,” “I could have sworn she was standing right beside me two years ago.”

Yes, that skit was good. I feel like SNl was really made for DVR — it’s often clear pretty early in a skit that it’s just not gojng to be funny and it’s so helpful to just skip it! I feel like each show has a couple funny skits, cold open and weekend update are usually good, and then they fill it out with really dumb stuff.

I think the Do Not Disturb guys are still on the writing staff but maybe just not doing their own skits.

Carvey is playing Biden pretty much the same way he played George Herbert Walker Bush. I kept waiting for him to say "not gonna do it."

I'm mystified by Jane Wickline. I love TikTok comedians but have never found her style funny at all. I'm sure Lorne has a vision and she must balance the cast in some way, so I hope she comes into her own. People keep saying she's a nepo baby, but her mom was a PA for a season on the show 30+ years ago and her dad is/was a writer for some other show, Late Night maybe. Doesn't seem like either would have much pull. And she auditioned 7 times before being hired.

He lost his son recently. ❤️‍🩹

Surprisingly (for me!), Ariana had a great monologue.

I loved the Family Feud Cold Open.

My fave skits will always be the game show ones.
Hahaha!

I might be in the minority but I don't think Dana Carvey is a very good Biden.

There have been a lot of silly skits that have been funny. The episode with Nate Bargatze was especially funny.

I think the guy who imitates trump sounds exactly like him! Tone, mannerisms, random blabbering on, etc.

I agree the cast member who is playing Trump is very spot on!
His voice/mannerisms/hands/etc.!
Lol.

Dana Carvey is doing a great job as Biden and Maya of course is a perfect Kamala!
