NP. I went to Michigan's B-School with a Regent's child and a child of a big donor who had sold a business to Warren Buffett. Spoiler Alert: they were well qualified. But no lottery effect was going to impact their chances among similarly qualified applicants.

You didn't actually state that. You first listed test scores, GPA, school applied to/mystery major, and then just "in-laws are very active alumni." So the applicant is married and has in-laws? Or are you listing your test scores and GPA from 40 years ago?
