I don't think it really matters what we do. If your child likes and will eat it, it's fine for them.

Wouldn't something like a chicken bake (which has a bread-y/pastry-like outside) be kind of gross and slimy in a thermos?


Kids are gross. They’ll eat anything. I wouldn’t eat it. It I guarantee kids would.

For all the people throwing shade at Costco Chicken Bake - which is a giant hot pocket you get at the food court that some people consider a special treat - do your kids eat school lunch? Mine do and I don’t think there is much difference between half a chicken bake and the pizza, hot dog, or cheeseburger school serves 2-3 days a week. Sure they also serve salad, but if your kid tells you they are picking the ceasar salad over pizza in the lunch line they are probably lying.

My kids love certain leftovers. I heat up pupusas and quesadillas and put into a wide mouth thermos and it keeps warm until lunch. Always a hit. I do rice and breaded chicken (homemade) as well in winter.
Birh went to a preschool that served a hot lunch so they are very used to it.

It’s an 800 calorie hot pocket. Very easy to only eat half.

I wouldn’t send food that’s supposed to be hot, cold. I wouldn’t want to eat it so I don’t give it to my kid. She takes leftovers thoigh, they’re warmed up and put in a preheated Thermos.
She would take chicken bake or similar yes.
Today she’s got chicken and rice.

PP here. Not mine. They are pretty sensitive to things in their thermoses being any different than they would be straight out of the oven/off the stovetop. We pretty much have to stick to soups, rice, stuff like that.
