Yes, let the cleaners go in 2021 and just never rehired anyone. It was hard to keep up in the summer, but now that the kids are back in school, I'm catching up again. Before that I didn't even own a vacuum and hadn't cleaned a toilet since probably 1997.

I did during the pandemic but I am back to having someone else do it. Of course if there is a “blowout” we clean that up.

I make almost $1M a year and just got a housecleaner 1 month ago. So, I am not above cleaning the toilet. I actually know that I clean better than any cleaning person coming to the house.

If you are indeed a friend or partner then why not help them get over their ADHD or inertia?

We live in a 6k square foot house. I have a weekly cleaner clean the upstairs (where hubby and I hang out) and I clean the downstairs myself - but it's only used when the kids come home.
Incidentally, we own a short term seasonal rental unit at the lake that we clean ourselves. So, I clean more of other people's crap than my own.

There are tons of resources on internet to learn it, blaming parents for everything isn't an answer.

I don't....because my husband does.

It seems unnecessary to pay someone to clean your toilet for you when it's not a difficult or specialized task that requires extraordinary tools. We don't have unlimited discretionary funds either.

Both of us have graduate degrees.

This is my approach (to housecleaning and other things, too). I think it’s good to be very aware of the amount of effort it takes to clean up after one’s self. Otherwise, you make bigger messes than would otherwise. You tend to be more careless about your overall effect on your environment.

In my underdeveloped South Asian country of origin, toilet cleaners were from "low caste" and treated as untouchables.

In a supposedly civilized and developed western society like US, trying to weave a income based caste system is beyond sad.

Good life rule: Clean up your own messes (if you can).

Americans seem to dislike cleaning their behinds as well and think of patting with a piece of dry toilet paper as good enough cleaning after pooping. We buy so much unnecessary stuff for household but getting washing hose or bidets seems too expensive and unnecessary. Why would anyone expect us to clean or disinfect our toilets on daily basis?
