I once sat next to a black woman from DC who worked for a very left-leaning org that shall remain nameless. We were at a major social justice conference eating lunch and gun violence came up. While she was lamenting it—and even noted laudable efforts by her org—she also shared that she was a gun owner. Long story short: all the white people at the table were shocked, but she explained that it’s common. Why? Because they’ve been around violence their whole life and feel safer with a gun. It’s something privileged people simply can’t relate to.

Anyway, I’m an anti-gun liberal, but I understand why Kamala and Oprah and probably white public figures like George Clooney likely have guns.

MAJOR REFORM are never going to happen, we might get AR banned but that is all. Most of us don't want major gun reform. We don't need people to stay home anymore.

Sure, 47K-48K Americans per year die by gun violence and it’s the leading cause of death for children (according to Hopkins Public Health)…why would we want to do anything “major”???

+1 In Atlanta, a doctor and her teenaged daughter were terrorized by a group of armed home invaders. Daughter was literally dragged down the hall.

Oprah’s face was fine. Harris said at the debate she owned a gun and has said it before at various points in her career. I would hope Oprah watched the debate and knew this before hosting the show.

She said at the debate, and has said sporadically throughout her career that she owns a handgun. Presumably if you get the gun and own the gun, you would use the gun if you had to protect yourself. If you won’t pull the trigger, you are standing there with a weapon that could be taken from you and used against you. She’s been consistent on this. Maybe you haven’t been listening to her?
