I think the issue with comparing zip codes is that it's an apples to oranges comparison since some zip codes allow condos and other multi-family housing and others only allow single family homes. I would think it would be a fairly meaningless number unless you're only comparing the price of single family homes. Even then you could argue square footage and lot size should factor in. But these zip code lists compiled with data from Zillow are pretty meaningless. I doubt they even capture off-market sales, of which there are plenty in "desirable" zip codes.

Northern Virginia Magazine had a table the l2024 most expensive zip code listing a two or three months ago. 22066 was at the top. Last year 22101 was at the top.

This. They used Wayfair apartment furniture to stage the place and the scale is wayyy off. The kitchen, while nice bones, looks cheaply done (why didn’t they extend the cabs flush to the ceiling? And they have the DCUM hated range on the island.). I can’t entirely tell but the ceilings look kinda low throughout. The sloped yard is also terrible for anyone with kids or pets which I assume is the target audience of this house.

That’s. Not true for all locations in Great Falls. Some have trails that lead to cool places. Best kept secrets. You just have to know and explore.

Maybe someone can create a separate discussion on 5,000+ sq ft houses. I'm really curious about who are buying those houses and how they are using them. I just can't imagine ever wanting a house that big, but I'm also single and don't enjoy entertaining, so I'm very content with my 1,000 sq foot condo.

22066 has the highest median because there are no condos or townhouses. 22101 is a lot more.expensive if comparing apples to apples
