Because people say the nastiest things about public figures, celebrities and politicians who aren't even there to defend themselves.
In the other forums, we just fight each other.
The meanest bothers me the least in Entertainment because it is people who have chosen to be in the public eye with all that entails.
They chose a job to match their talents/ strengths. Those jobs happen to be in the public eye - they don’t have a choice in that respect. They are literally just still people, and so many others forget that. They are people that are good at singing, acting, making art. And art is something that makes humanity better. But so many people feel entitled to comment on everything about them because they have a particular job. That’s pathological.
Being cruel because they’re in the public eye is a very weird sense of entitlement.

and speaking of - i think the pets forum is the most unhinged one that i ever pay any attention to
i don't know which is meanest. they are all mean and fun/helpful in equal measure, that i've noticed.

School forums can be pretty nasty too. Specifically Montgomery County as that is the one I check but I would have to imagine the others are similar.
The politics forum is infested with truly extreme LWNJs. Even Jeff has said it’s a disaster.
What’s LWNJ?
LWNJ is the term far-right weirdos use for anyone who doesn't pop an immediate stiffy when looking at an assault rifle, thinking about trickle-down economics, hearing a dog whistle, or crossing a stroad.
Anonymous wrote:The relationships forum is unhinged. Every time there’s a woman with a problem, some man or some pick me comes on to monologue about how it’s all her fault, how it’s her fault it happened in the first place, what did she do to contribute to the problem, blah blah blah. And I also think there are a lot of trolls and fake scenarios and sock-puppeting.
I picture all the massively over the top haters in the Entertainment forum - the people who can get a thread about the damn Kane show/Your Morning Show/whatever it’s called to hundreds of pages! Who even listens to regular radio anymore?! - as all Martha from Baby Reindeer. Not enough going on in their real lives for sure.
