We live in Maryland and won’t qualify for FA.
What schools should my kid add to the list? We are looking for merit. Prior to the score improvement we were just thinking about state schools like VT UMD and Pitt.
Anyone in the last cycle with similar scores willing to share where their kid received significant merit? Also my kid has mediocre AP scores- he has taken 9 so far and scored mostly 3s and a few 4s. He’s taking 5 APs this year. GPA is good all As with the exception of a semester B.
OP, FCPS ironically enough attending UMD as a direct admit to CS from HS class of 23
3.98/4.5, 1560 9 APs, Varsity athlete and club leadership
Accepted with merit to: UMD, BU, CWRU, UMN, Ohio St., Lehigh
Accepted w/no merit: Pitt, WM
WL: UVA, NEU
Denied: Two ivies

Hell, there are people here in this DCUM community who will insist that anything at or above 1350 is viewed by AOs as "top score".
Seriously. These maroons will be here to defend that deranged logic in 3, 2, 1 ...

This list is horrible for merit aid.
My words exactly!

For the W and L full ride, candidates are selected from the 10% of accepted applicants then attend (with all other candidates) for a 3-day on campus experience that includes interviews and more where full ride recipients are selected.
