It's not that he's a man or that they could date: a 19 yo man can be dangerous, and dating your housemates is always messy.
The issue is somebody with that much life experience sharing housing space with very inexperienced people, which creates a power imbalance and also suggests there's something off with the 37 yo. because most would want their own space or more mature housemates.

Note, the 37 year has done nothing at all wrong at this point the other suite mates are largely worried about the age difference not gender. I don’t want to name the schoo but it’s a well regarded state u (not the flagship, not in dmv)
