what is degrading about that?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:why don't the various leagues just schedule 2w of scrimmages just like most sports leagues do? Not that hard...just build it in.
Most sports leagues? like the nfl, mlb, etc? they do that because there aren't comparable teams in other leagues.
It doesn't apply to local youth soccer, or even top level soccer. There are plenty of same level opponents in other leagues and it's good to have variety in opponent for sports reasons as well as just to increase the level of interest, i.e. play teams you don't usually see.

For 2011's they already have 4 or 5 GA/ECNL, a ton for ECRL/NAL(GA Rising). Looking at the girls brackets for 2 weeks from now, they need 1 high level and 1 low level 2011G (already have 50 teams, just for flighting, they need these 2 teams), 2 high level 2012G (already have 42 teams), 1 low level 2013G (46 teams)

Geez, they should pay me a finder's fee
How many teams are in the DMV?
What's the value of going to Pennsylvania for preseason friendlies?
to play better competition? Someone asked about tournaments and someone gave them an option. I understand if it cuts into your local tournament and the money you personally make from it, but Spirit is a good tournament. Besides, Downingtown PA is only like 90 minutes from Baltamore
You people don't even know why you say what you say. You just repeat something you've heard.
There is absolutely no reason any team in the DMV needs to drive far distance and stay in hotel to play preseason games.
What are the things a coach/team and more importantly an individual player needs to work on in a game that they can't do against a local team?
Be specific.
I like the preseason tournaments far away. Great for team bonding, especially for the new players on the team, a fun low key getaway before everything gets hectic when school starts. Teams that like each other play better together. There are a lot more benefits to travel soccer than just soccer.

Dont the usually get 8-10 teams, all GA and ECNL, but a mix of good and bad teams. No ECRL or anyone else. So it is a nice tournament if you want to stay close to home and play the same teams that you will play in league in a few weeks
