All zoned for this high school - https://www.niche.com/k12/grosse-pointe-south-high-school-grosse-pointe-farms-mi/

yeah Michigan is really a hidden gem.

Michigan is likely to end single family zoning in the near future. Would not recommend because SFH neighborhoods in your price range will be very vulnerable to decline from this policy.

where did you get this info?

brighton, ny or pittsford, ny.

can get a great house, good school, affordable, and just easier quality of life. everything is quick drive. I visited home this weekend and was envious of friends still living there- kids have more normal lives (middle schoolers and teenagers still babysit, birthday parties are still chill in your backyard rather than $50 a person affairs of keeping up with the jones)

Some of the suburbs of Kansas City have fantastic schools and you can still get a nice house under $500k. I grew up there and it's a terrific place to live.

For $500K itll be v hard to find a single-family home Lower Merion, Radnor or Tredyffrin Easttown school districts (these are the 3 prime districts). You can find something in that price range in Haverford School District.

There is an argument to be made that, while less well-regarded, Haverford School District still has rigorous honors classes and kids have a chance to do better in there bc its not a destination school district with as many sharp elbows.
