I am so happy being mom to 1. And while I would have loved having a boy too, I am really happy my one is a daughter.

I would have envisioned 2-3. But, so many reasons
- she was born prematurely. I knew it advance that was a risk for me and was relieved she was as many weeks as it was and born healthy.

- I have a condition for which there are some risks to me during pregnancy.

- DH is several years older, and has other health risks himself

With the combination of all of the above and some of the timeline I just did not want to press luck. And instead, just focus on being there for our 1 kid.

There are so many things I love about being a mom to 1.

Most parents are c*nts and the more kids you have the more likely you are to encounter a parent like OP.

I don't actually naturally like children. I do love my own though. I had only wanted one and then 3 days after I told my husband so, I found out #2 was on the way.

Stopped at two because we both like our jobs and couldn't keep them and parent more than two. Then breast cancer.

I was one of 2 and would have preferred being an only, so went for an only. In a FML situation I had twins so I have 2 but never in a million years would have considered more. My DH is one of 6 and agreed fully.

I didn’t want to have more than two. So I didn’t.

One is the best! Fun, no financial problems, healthy child.

I see all my friends with 2+ who look bedraggled and are always talking about money. They are not living the good life.

I wanted to be a super involved parent while also keeping my career. And just in case for some reason we lost my DH, i wanted to be sure i could raise them alone

You know what wouldn’t have motivated me to have more? Nosy Catholic MEN like JD Vance, Tim Carney, and Ross Douthat lecturing me about the national fertility decline, how great babies are, and how kids raise themselves.

I only had one because that’s what I wanted. Nothing could have persuaded me otherwise. Women have reproductive freedom and choose when and whether to have kids.

I was happy with 1 once i had her after many miscarriages. Dh wanted to try for two and the second came after one try. I would have to not work to have three and i make 2/3rd of our income. I love our two and had the second at nearly 40 so my body is done. The world is much easier with 1 or 2 kids. We don't need large cars, plane travel is still affordable and we can fund two college educations.

We purposely stopped at 2.

I grew up as one of 4 siblings and didn't find that a healthy situation. Was not going to repeat that for my children.

Money and I would have been over 35 having a 3rd which I didn’t want

DC1 was 8 weeks premature.

DC2 was only 3 weeks early, but I had GD, which made for a miserable pregnancy, and then my uterus ruptured during labor.

We had wanted at least 3, but OB strongly recommended not trying again.

DC1 was an easy baby, but DC2 was very difficult for the first year, and by then DC1 was showing some signs of special needs and I was having pretty major health issues, so altogether trying for a third just wasn’t in the cards.
