High achievers from low performing groups also need to get the best education with a like-ABILITY cohort of achievers. Education is the key. Clarksburg have enough high achievers.

So? As I said that ORM students are excelling at school. And they are. Asian-Americans excel everywhere. But, in a school where quarter of the students are Asian American (when Asian Americans are 7% of the US population), that is significant.

Stupid of Whites to leave the area. There are pretty nice homes in Clarksburg and it has a professional MC/UMC vibe.

If I were at a party and you said bigoted stuff like this to me, I would find any excuse to end the conversation immediately.

How is saying that Asian-Americans do well academically and are high achievers bigoted?

Are you asking how it's bigoted to stereotype people?

No, you're basing it on stereotypes. The model minority myth is a myth and a stereotype, and it is harmful.

I read the "Mainly ORM students" to mean that the school was mostly white/Asian, since you had a period before it. I guess I read it wrong, or you just need to write more clearly. But, I'm sure Clarksburg HS is a fine school.

BTW, RM and NW have an Asian Am. population that is more than 20%.

FWIW, I'm Asian American.

So providing housing vouchers attracts problem students to this area?

In 2022-2023, 49.0% of students either received FARMS or had received FARMS in the past in MCPS, and 36.0% currently received FARMS.

For enrollment by race/ethnicity: 14.0% white, 24.3% Asian-American, 27.0% Hispanic, 29.5% Black/African-American.

44.1% of graduates scored 3 or higher on at least one AP test, 55.9% didn't.

My kid graduated from Clarksburg, Clarksburg was fine, the PP's characterization is just plain wrong.

24.3% Asian-Americans is wonderful. Kids are going to excel. (At least Asian-American kids!). If your kid of whatever race is a studious high achiever they can join the Asian-American students and also do well. Asian-Americans like to associate with academically oriented kids.

27% Hispanics is normal for a sanctuary county. The population of MoCo has a ton of Hispanics. Similarly, 30% African Americans is also pretty good because this area has lots of MC Black families. As for the White population, even Frederick is turning brown! Guns are ubiquitous in US. We are living in a lawless country that is armed to the gills. So, Clarksburg is amazing, clean and close-knit.

24.3% Asian-Americans is truly amazing. This is a high achieving group. It is enough for your kid to get a cohort and all the STEM educated parents are able to coach and mentor the robotics team, app development team, DOE alt energy vehicle team, NASA challenges team, debate, chess, Rubik's cube, science olympiad, math olympiad, history bowl, geography bowl...the sky is the limit.

No. The "kids up from Germantown" (Fox Chapel ES and James Daly ES) have been zoned for Clarksburg HS since Clarksburg HS opened in 2006. Also there were daily fights and kids bringing guns to school before the boundary change in 2020. And students roaming hallways and not attending class is a MCPS-wide problem since covid. And it's quite an assumption on your part that the misbehaving students are (1) from Germantown (2) from families that receive housing vouchers in Germantown.

I think you answered your own question. Many people here think HHI matters more than anything else.

HHI in terms of lack of poverty is reflected in a school's overall test scores, but if you can compare similar groups across schools you'll get a much better idea of the value each cluster adds (if any).
