Not op

How is that possible? My resume makes me look like a total loser, I only stay at random jobs for 3 months before quitting (flight risk), and I only have college degrees. I barely have any consistent work experience at all.

Yet I can get some random office job or paralegal position with a salary of 50k (in Arlington) by just applying to a couple open positions. I even bomb the interviews and still somehow get hired. I lie and say I will stay for a few years, even though I plan to quit in a few months (I technically don't have to work, but I enjoy more purposeful jobs)

Places are super desperate for in-person workers who will take "low" salaries (which is 50k) in Arlington. Since everyone with more experience/degrees can find hybrid or remote work for much higher pay.

I genuinely feel like people who claim they "can't" find a job after applying to "hundreds" of positions are using sites like indeed (which is awful) or applying to stuff that has been posted for weeks. You need to apply to recent postings on actual company websites. I think ziprecruiter is decent too if you don't know where to start......... Or maybe people just have poorly constructed resumes.

This seems risky for mom.

Probably less risky than being on her own, though.

Most likely OP is being screened out. Many people don’t make the first cut bc of drug use. Many more can’t get beyond a basic interview bc of poor social skills or obvious red flags that reveal themselves in the first minute.

Amazing. Good for you, PP. I almost want to screenshot this.

What is your education level?
Can you pass a background check?
School districts need staff.
From substitute teachers to para educators, cafeteria workers, teaching assistants in early education, recess monitors, one on one shadow in special education, all kinds of worthwhile positions.
If you can get your foot in the door, you will get benefits and be in the system for more opportunities.

When you apply, are you limiting your hours (like saying you can't work weekends or overnights?)

Walk dogs! You get $25 a walk. My neighbor walks about 10 a day, each multiple times a day. She’s in great shape and enjoys it immensely.

If you have a clean background check, apply to a school district. You could work as a para depending on your educational background.
