It’s fine to have a thread for spouses and family members. But the nominees are off limits. If you wouldn’t have a thread for Trump or for Biden in terms of fashion, then there shouldn’t be one for Harris.
I agree.
We wouldn’t do this to a male candidate. Ugh.
Pretty sure we talked about Hillary’s pant suits. Why would Kamala be off limits? This is a fashion board.

Kamala doesn't really do the dress or dramatic coats thing. She still dresses like a lawyer and I think it works for her -- tailored pant suits in bold colors with simple tops and shoes and statement jewelry that doesn't compete with her features.
She's also one of those women who has both a really striking and easily recognizable face even without a ton of makeup AND great hair. It makes her very telegenic. She of course wears lots of makeup (all high level politicians do even the men) but it just brings out her already strong features and she doesn't have to do much contouring.
Also like a lot of women of south asian and or african descent she can handle really bold colors both in her clothes and in her makeup and it never overpowers her.
She's actually got her look on lockdown and I don't think it needs any real updating for a presidential run. It helps that she has been a professional who needed to wear suits and have great presentation basically since she started working in her 20s and she's never had to present differently. Hilary had a harder time with this because she started working in a time when female lawyers were still not common and no one knew how they should dress and then she was first lady in Arkansas and in the White House and was constantly pushed to soften and feminize her look which later undermined her when she ran for office and had to find a professional wardrobe basically for the first time in her 50s. Kamala has been dressing the same for 30 years and she wears it well.
Anonymous wrote:Kamala already knows how to dress well. Trump is the one who can improve his casual style. Nobody needs to wear suit and tie every day.
However, First Gentleman can add some interest to his wardrobe as Melania is very well-dressed.

Serious question, why should we treat women candidates the same as male candidates? Yes, women are judged on their looks more than men. That's not fair, and maybe it's not right...but it's true. Pretending that it doesn't matter is to deny reality. And, frankly, I don't think there's anything wrong with paying attention to how people dress themselves. We live in a society where there is a standard uniform for men, but not for women...so it's harder for women in some sense, in another women have more freedom and flexibility. Either way, it is really reasonable in the fasion forum of a site filled with professional women to pay attention to the fashion of one of the politically highest ranking American women in history.
FWIW, I'm a petite Indian-American woman in an extremely male-dominated field. Since HS, I've often been the only woman in the room, and I've had to figure out my own style with few role models. I love fashion and feminine clothes, and I have to strike the right balance professionally. I enjoy seeing what other women do.

Is this a serious question? Harris has been in the public eye for many, many years. She dresses in a polished and professional way. It is unlikely she’s going to change that a POTUS candidate or POTUS. Yes, women are judged on looks more than men, but premise of your question entire buys into it and you are clearly perpetuating it.

Agree that her suits look great on her. Does anyone know her exercise routine? Sports? Sorry if it's off topic. I can start a new thread about her to ask but there are so many!

All men always just wear dark suits. There is nothing to discuss. Women wear a variety of things, so there is something to discuss. Relax.
