I’ve read several other potty-training threads where it’s suggested, so I assume it’s coming from some sort of potty training internet “method” but it just seems unnecessarily punitive.

I waited until a little after turning three years old. It only took two weeks. Just in time for preschool. Too many start too early and they take months. Others have good success at 2.5 years old.

Op here Pee everywhere, we've started the oh crap method. She is trying, but didn't have any success. Plenty of tears by the end of the day as she was exhausted from all the cleaning up we were doing. I was taking her regularly, was encouraging it. I had some treats, but didn't get to give any

Were you making her clean up the pee? Why?

It’s a skill they have to learn - that you teach them. Just like anything else a person has to learn, it takes time.

The first couple days are very exhausting. Keep diaper on at nap and bedtime so she gets proper rest and stick with it.

Oh yeah first day of oh crap is AWFUL (I only lasted until naptime at which point I couldn’t face an afternoon of hoovering and stress and poop on the carpet). FWIW, both my kids got trained just fine with gradually increasing periods of no-diaper time rather than going cold turkey. Whatever your decide to do, good luck!

It’s a disaster at 3 because they have an opinion and are strong willed.
Too late now but 2-2.5 is the sweet spot for potty training because they are eager to learn and not stubborn mules yet.

We trained just around 3 with a push from daycare and no interest from him. He did it! I don't think anyone has saved d it yet but having done really fun underpants with a favorite character was incentive far my kids!
