KENWOOD is known a COUNTRY CLUB for people not invited to join CHEVY CHASE, CONGRESSIONAL or COLUMBIA. So they need members and will NOT do ANYTHING

They should be banned forever.


Kenwood won’t do a thing. The Stone Ridge swim coach is also a coach at Kenwood and a long-time member. Unless one of the students goes after the coach for the $400 + lost wages and names Kenwood, too. Not a hard case since she already admitted she did it.
Then Kenwood would probably settle to make it go away.

Schools won’t do anything either.

So no consequences.

And they get to keep the 10 grand.

Well it's fraud, and given how much they were charging, easily at the felony level. So, I'd say that's worth being upset about.

To be fair, it isn't the red cross "allowing" shoddy certifications. It is shoddy instructors using Red Cross materials.

That is why the Red Cross likely had to intervene here, because it is their reputation on the line.

The Red Cross has standards. These coaches didn't adhere to them.

It’s not actually the Red Cross. The Red Cross establishes criteria and their own certifications for instructors. These instructors are then able to offer training classes. It’s the instructors that are to blame here, the $400 fee is outrageous. That was $10,000 in four hours.

Recertification is different than certification. Recertification shouldn’t coat $400, $400 is more than the regular certification class. You can’t give recertifications to persons who haven’t already been certified

My DC was certified in May, it was a three (very long) day course, several hours of review material prior to class, written test at the outset (if you didn’t pass you couldn’t continue the course) swim test and two and half days of in water rescue practice, cpr and adr training. Four hours is laughable.

Poor tutoring gets the student a lower grade. Poor lifeguarding can get a person dead. Not really equivalent.

I think some of us have higher standards than you. If I send my kid to a lifeguarding class I expect them to be trained properly. I expect my kids sports coaches to have good judgment and be ethical people. I expect them to be strong role models for my kid. Being a lifeguard is a life and death business. It is not to be taken lightly.

Cutting corners when it comes to a life-saving job is inexcusable. Way too many people are comfortable with unethical behavior that put people at actual risk.
