Don't worry folks. This is going nowhere.

He's simply doing this to placate his base in the news cycle.

The head of the Executive Branch is not going to impose changes on the top court in the Judicial Branch overnight and not by the way they're trying to. Certainly not without congress getting majorly involved and probably not without a Constitutional amendment... and they'll never get the two-thirds and three-fourths needed.

They don't have the power and they've run out of time and political capital. Plus, no one in their right mind trusts the judgement of the people actually running the show behind Biden or the democrat party. They're all about the ends justifying the means and they're going to be told NO.

Can you explain how this is not long term? Especially when it comes to ethics?

I don't know that we need term limits but I think it should just bet set that it needs to be 3 dems, 3 Republicans and one independent. Kind of like how the FEC commission works.

"By law, no more than three Commissioners can represent the same political party, and at least four votes are required for any official Commission action. This structure was created to encourage nonpartisan decisions"

This is the best idea yet. However I also like the idea in the other thread that 70yo is federal retirement age, so it should be the same for all federal officials in the three branches.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

The irony is delicious

Biden was elected to all of those terms. SCOTUS justices are appointed once.

It's a bad idea because it's just a power play by the left. Only now, after decades of a far-left Supreme Court (and then a milquetoast Court that simply accepted all of the leftist dictates from the far-left Court), when there is a right-leaning Supreme Court, now suddenly the left wants to change the rules.

Screw that. We see you. We aren't playing that game. You'll suck it up and deal with a right-wing court for decades.

Don't act like the GOP didn't hold up a nomination because "it was an election year," only to cram their nominee through weeks before an election four years later.

Don't act like the GOP hasn't lost the popular vote in every presidential election since 1988, except one.

Don't act like the current court has a real democratic mandate. It is now a de facto Guardian Council.

He is also weighing whether to call for a constitutional amendment to eliminate broad immunity for presidents and other constitutional officeholders, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations.

Well, la dih dah. And Trump suggested eliminating birthright citizenship.

This. 100%.

lol. You aren’t going to change our judicial system because some cases didn’t go your way.

Surely you don’t think Biden is serious?

He is playing you for votes knowing he is a weak and embattled candidate.

This isn't about a few cases "not going our way". For God's sake, look at the corruption with Scalia and Thomas.

Why just SCOTUS?

I’d be for this.

+1 either make everyone term and age limited or no one.

I agree. We already have some term limits (e.g. POTUS). Term and age limits for all. Fine with me.

You don’t think ethics reforms are needed?

I don't think this is the time or way to do it.

We needed this yesterday. No more kicking the can down the road. Look where that got us. The current SCOTUS is a corrupt POS.
