Is a 4 considered bad? Should DC not list it on his colleges apps?
Absolutely list 4s and 5s.
4 have to be listed, they are very good but 5s are better, my kid has three 4s and one 5 and wanted top 20 so not sure that is now doable..and now demoralized and will have tougher time prepping for the SAT, this is the ugly part of perfectionism, not sure what i can tell them to cheer them up
You need 5s for top 20s? So a score of 4 will disqualify you? This is depressing. My 10th grader was really excited about getting a 4 on their first AP.

The only T20 that admitted my ‘24 student only accepted 4 on the AP Calc exam. 5s on everything else. Very few students in the freshman class receive AP credit we were told at events at the school. So my student selected a college that is lower ranked but will award credit so he can get into his major classes faster. His decision. He got all 4’s across the board.

Anonymous wrote:So thrilled that my son got a 4 in Calc AB! He came home on exam day saying that it was a hard test. He's going to JMU, and they only give credit for 4s and 5s.

People seriously got up at 4:30 for this? Relax.
I got up at 2am on the West Coast. For us it is very strongly linked to applications to the UK where the AP result is taken as the equivalent of an A level. Without them, no offers.
Curious, is a 3 viewed as bad or good?
Its a C grade.
For the colleges and courses my kids are applying to, they need multiple 5's in the relevant subjects.
So no a 3 is not "good" as such.

You are getting bad info. I have two kids at T10 ,(one last year and one this year). Neither of them listed their AP scores. DC1 never got any 5s and DC 2 only received 5s on exams taken senior year. Focus on SAT!!!

Both got all 5's in every exam they took.
Thrilled!
You have their college board log ins?
I have my child’s college board login as I booked the SAT for them but I did not check the SAT scores before they told me what they were and will not check the AP scores either. It feels like an invasion of privacy to me
+1
Me too, but if this came out a week from now when DS is away with no phone for three weeks, he’s want me to snail mail him w results.
Sure I believe that the parents checking and then posting to DCUM before 5:30 am eastern are chill and give their kids any privacy.
+1 I forgot today was the day, even though yesterday, I knew it was tomorrow. LOL. And I don't have my kid's log in, so we'll just wait until he wakes up and remind him to check.
+1 I’ll be sure and share when my kid wakes up. I know you’re all on pins and needles.

Cambridge only accepts 5s, and requires 5 of them.
But they make tentative offers confirmed by senior year exams.
It really depends on the college. US Universities use them for credit and that's it. If you look at a school like Towson, they accept many 3s for credit
