It’s fine if you’re just MC, but the hoops some jump through to create a fictitious UMC appearance on Facebook and Instagram is strange.
Admittedly not in either of those much, but zero idea what you are talking about, with out any evidence of detail .

OP answered this earlier by saying:
"the (pictures) were curated in a way to suggest it was a longer trip"
Still can't figure that one out.

Even a day trip can be difficult if not problematic; it’s not simple to park and just walk steps to the beach. Parking in Rehoboth is metered and residents have designated streets where they can park that can be blocks away from their houses.
Everyone wants to park near Funland, for instance and walk to the beach. Closer by the boardwalk the stores near the gazebo have 30 min only and you’ll get towed if you exceed. If there’s a concert and you park anywhere near the bandshell, you’re stuck until the concert is over around 930 pm.
The state park beach is somewhat easier but it’s also very crowded and they’ll stop admittance once the lot is full.
OP, could your ILs be cheap and or naive?
Door to beach and beach to door is more like 4 plus hours each way. 8 plus hours in the car is miserable and frankly unsafe after a day in the sun.
When you leave this area early in the morning and leave the beach after dinner, it doesn’t take that long. This isn’t hard.
