So it human-caused climate change a theory? How has it been proven that changes in climate trends would not have happened without...what is it these days...cars?....taking showers?...plastic toys?...

It probably will be.

But also at times it won't be becauase bad weather happens, heat waves happen, flood causing rain happens, earthquakes happen, because Earth is still Earth. I sometimes think environmentalist do not save the Earth, which doesn't make sense as a concept, but want to stop bad weather and natural.disasters from happening. If we are good little humans, making sacrifices by inconvenience, the Earth will oblige and be good. It is a false religion really.

Climate change deniers in full force today.

You are aligned to your religion...any true believer is, understandable. Climate change is a theory--it may or may not be true. But you worship it and are scared of it. But bad weather and disasters are never going away no matter how many energy efficient appliances we use.

Theories are created from FACTS (this is the definition of the word theory in science). In science facts are based on measurements. Science is not a religion. A religion is a set of beliefs (usually based on a text) that are given status as a moral authority. Adherents are encouraged to participate in contemplative acts such as prayers, meditation, and ritual practices. Science is not based on a scriptural text. In science theories are based on facts that result from ongoing research. I hope you realize that the germ theory of disease (one example of a scientific theory) has saved MANY lives (and it's still called a theory). Do you use modern medicines? Do you go to a hospital if you have cancer? If you do, you are worshipping science by your way of explanation.

If you are scared of science, don't go to a doctor. Bad illness is never going away no matter how much medical assistance you seek out (by your reasoning anyway).

Climate change is a theory on why "something" is happening. That doesn't mean some scientists do not assess that it is true. But we cannot call climate change a fact, like the sun existing, that is a fact.

It might be the northern edge of the south, but it’s still the south. We’re basically at sea-level, at a latitude only 15 degrees away from the tropics. Of course it’s going to be blazing hot and super humid in the summers.

Why are people constantly surprised by this???

Do you not understand how to look at a map?

It is getting worse. I moved here from the South decades ago and summers were a breeze. The temps almost never were near 100. Not only is the heat horrible but the persistent drought makes the area look like a hellscape. I like to garden and have adjusted the plants I grow because of the changing climate.

I was born here decades before you moved here decades ago. It’s always been like this.

I was born here decades ago and I strongly disagree.

I’m OP who started the Migraine Triggered by Humidity thread and I’m miserable. Interesting to note that I’ve lived in dcumlandia my entire life and every year I become less tolerant of the heat and humidity.

I basically stay indoors and venture out only when necessary. I hate this, too. /end rant

I was born here as well and am now in my 40's. The weather we had this past week never occurred before mid-July/early August.

Remember 2011?

Yes, there was a heat wave in July 2011 that peaked on July 22nd.
But my point was that in the 80's, 90's and aughts, we never had a heat wave in June.

This is true.

But more to the point, why are people arguing about "it's always hot" or "it's never that hot" when we have actual data from the last 100+ years that show us exactly what is happening. Are you all like the same people who are vaccine deniers and all that crap, thinking scientists are some evil cohort trying to play mind control games or something? It's freaking nuts that people don't see this is the beginning of the end of normalcy with regards to weather.

100 years...what a long period of time in history

We had an incredibly mild summer last year and you whiners are now soft.

Newsflash: it's hot in summer and cold in winter. Put some ice in your over priced Stanley and move along. Summer is hot.
