I’ve already had the general talk with her about what hair removal options are, where women typically remove hair, and sort of left it as here are the tools, but you pick what you want to do since it’s your body. She is familiar with how to use a razor and last year she did use it pretty regularly (including bikini line). It’s just this year she seems to not care about bikini line.


This isn't that uncommon among the younger generation. I'm not saying it's the norm - it is not - but it's not unheard of either.

The switch from last year is relevant, sounds like she’s making a choice. And I agree with PP, it’s more common than when we were kids

Just tell her! What’s the big deal? My mom never did any kind of personal grooming and I wish she had given us more guidance and instead I’d have to find out from my friends. Tell her and get her an electric personal groomer so she can do it herself since she sounds a bit young for waxing. They’re gentle and don’t hurt and simple to use.

I bought my 12yo daughter razors and nair and just said to her frankly, many women who have hair beyond their bathing suit line choose to remove it, it’s up to you if you want to, or just want shorts or suits that are longer. If you want to you can use a razor or try this hair remover cream, you use it like this (explained directions) and assured her it was up to her and moved on. No big deal, I don’t know what she is doing beyond wearing a regular suit and no hair showing.

Dear God. I am so glad I do not have to deal with this "it's just your body" stuff IRL. These people come to your house and like take dumps in your powder room, fart, smell bad and do all kinds of stuff that they think is just natural but is just gross.

My young teen wears boy short cut bottoms because she isn’t interested in shaving (I don’t blame her, our skin is prone to ingrown hair and razor burn) and when I offered waxing she was rather horrified by the concept.

I’m fine with that. There’s really no difference between leg hair and pubic hair to me. I understand most people don’t think like that and choose to remove hair. Both are valid choices.
